On Friday, November 30th, 2012, So Others Might Eat hosted their 26th Annual Anniversary Gala celebrating 42 years of service to the Washington, D.C. community. SOME’s many supporters and friends joined Gala Chairs Karin and Daniel Akerson, CEO of General Motors, in honoring CBS News Anchor Bob Schieffer and his wife Pat for many years of amazing service to the organization. Other featured speakers included William Conway, Jr., Co-Founder and Chair of the Carlyle Group and Chair of SOME’s Housing Development Initiative, and Father John Adams, President of SOME.
The Gala was held at the National Building Museum and featured a silent auction with items ranging from a dinner for ten hosted by the Irish Ambassador, a dove hunting trip in Argentina to beautiful wine baskets and cookie decorating lessons. The night was capped off by a lively performance from The Unexpected Boys, one of the top Four Seasons tribute acts in the country. The beautiful evening was coordinated by Susan O’Neill & Associates and raised $1.1 million for SOME’s Affordable Housing Development Initiative.
