Susan O'Neill

Susan O’Neill is the President of Susan O’Neill & Associates a Washington, DC firm specializing in non-profit fundraising and special events production. Her professional career has included teaching in public schools, heading a Training and Education Division for a national labor union and organizing national political campaigns.  She is the mother of one daughter, Michaela Daniel.

 

Susan O’Neill was born and raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  She is the middle child of Tip and Millie O’Neill’s five children.  Ms. O’Neill attended local parochial schools before attending Boston College for her Bachelor of Arts in history and Bachelor of Science in education.  She taught school in Alexandria, Virginia while studying for her master’s degree in history from Georgetown University.   Throughout her teaching career, Ms. O’Neill served on the Board of the Alexandria Education Association and left teaching to lead the Training and Education Division of the National Association of Government Employees.

 

In 1984, Ms. O’Neill formed the partnership of O’Neill & Fleming, a fundraising and special events firm.  In 1991 she founded the firm of Susan O’Neill & Associates.  In the past 20 years, O’Neill & Fleming and Susan O’Neill & Associates have raised over $35 million for charitable and non-profit organizations including The Children’s Inn at NIH, So Other Might Eat, Tracy’s Kids, The American Ireland Fund, and numerous colleges and universities.  

 

Throughout her career, Ms. O’Neill has been recognized as Teacher of the Year in Virginia and SOME’s Outstanding Service Award in 2003.  Susan O’Neill & Associates is located in Bethesda, MD where Ms. O’Neill lives.  Her hobbies include walking, golfing, reading and laughing.
